Hammersmith Athletic Futsal Academy
The Hammersmith Athletic Futsal Academy was established at West London College to connect competitive futsal with education and player development.
NACA was embedded across training sessions, matchdays and the wider sport curriculum.
Players were encouraged to examine their performances, discuss decisions, connect practical experiences to tactical and technical ideas and identify how learning could be applied in future sessions and matches.
In the academy’s first year, the team finished in mid table.
In the second year, the team won the AoC National Futsal League.
This progress cannot be attributed to a single framework.
It resulted from the commitment of the players, the work of the staff, the learning environment, the curriculum and the standards established across the programme.
NACA formed one part of that process by providing a shared structure for reflection and discussion.
The project continues to shape my thinking about how sport education, curriculum and coaching can be connected more deliberately.
Educational leadership
My leadership work includes curriculum oversight, quality assurance, staff coordination, programme development and supporting the delivery of sport and public services provision.
I am currently developing my understanding of educational leadership through professional practice and postgraduate study.
My interests include the relationship between leadership, professional trust, accountability, curriculum quality and the development of colleagues.
